Larsson & Jennings Watches

Their small but powerful selection of timepieces each beautifully fuse Swedish minimalistic design and British heritage. Established in 2012 this exciting Anglo-Swedish watch brand is inspired by the subcultures of both London and Stockholm. Their collection is made up of two distinctive styles, the Classic and the Resurgence.

The Classics' striped nylon / leather straps are clean, distinguished and recognisable, something for which Larsson & Jennings have become well known for. Their latest addition, the Resurgence, is fitted with fine Italian suede straps in your choice of red, brown and black, all of which perfectly compliment the subtle detailing of this beautiful watch.

The suede strap in my favourite part of my Larsson & Jennings watch. It feels really comfortable to wear it.

What is Luxury?

luxury isn’t about spending £120 on a pot of eye cream and slabbing it quickly before going to bed. luxury could be spending £20 on eye creams, and finding 20mins to massage and indulge. so time could define luxury.

and time equates money. but luxury doesn’t necessary equate money.

luxury is not about buying a £2,500 jacket just because one can. money cannot buy style, and high prices low availability promises of exclusivity, doesn’t necessary define luxury.

luxury should also not be a commodity. a commodity is a product for which there is demand, but which is supplied without differentiation, that is the same no matter who produces it. so terms like “affordable luxury” or “luxury for the masses” should not exist. it is insincere, so i will also not use it in future.

luxury doesn’t have to be tangible or cost the earth, it could be an hour to oneself, to relax, to indulge, with a tub of ice cream or not. although a tub of green and black’s could be considered a luxury, a splurge, as considered to say, a cone of cornetto.

luxury is using my favourite scent, the now near empty bottle of helmut lang “cuiron”. every drop so precious and poignant, knowing it is no longer in production.

luxury is not about excesses. it doesn’t mean owning ten £1,000 bags, or owning one £1,000 bag for which 10,000 were made.

luxury could be the feeling of soft cashmere brushing against the skin.

so luxury is a feel, but most likely not a look. a cashmere sweater with metallic embellishments could be done in wool or cotton instead, but the feel would be lost. the sweater doesn’t need to be in cashmere, but luxury isn’t about a need, it’s a want.

so luxury is a want.

luxury is not dressing up in the finest threads but still feeling empty. luxury is happiness and radiance from within. but what is happiness? like happiness, luxury can rarely be defined.

luxury hasn’t lost it’s lustre, we just need to understand it better.

BERG & BERG - FINE ACCESORIES FOR A MODERN GENTLEMAN        ...

BERG & BERG - FINE ACCESORIES FOR A MODERN GENTLEMAN

Berg & Berg is a project of passion founded in November 2009 by Karin & Mathias Berg. They met at university in 2001 and got married in 2010.

From the start in 2009, their ambition with Berg & Berg has been to create classic timeless products, made by the best manufacturers and using the finest materials. With a discerning eye for quality and lots of inspiration, they want to offer you the items that will be the future classics of your wardrobe.

Some words about heir knitwear and leather goods collection:

● For all leather items we are now using a spectacular vegetable tanned vachetta leather. This leather, called buttero in Italy, has a rich, deep look and will age beautifully. We look forward to see our new wallet and portfolio develop a nice patina over the next years. Still not impressed? Well, our new wallets are lined with soft Italian suede. Your credit cards have never been so comfortable.

● For Scandinavians, knitwear has always been a spring/summer staple, for breezy mornings, chilly evenings and even cold days. This season we have a few new models, which we hope can satisfy your spring/summer knitwear needs: A new round neck cashmere sweater, perfect both summer and winter, and a cashmere/silk raglan sleeve round neck striped sweater, wonderful for casual summer days. In addition our contrast trim cardigan is reintroduced in two new colours, a camel/caramel combination and a denim blue/cream version.

Who makes Berg & Berg products? All products are made to last by niche manufacturers, most of them located in Italy. From the wool and cashmere specialists in Biella to the tie-makers of Naples. Their knitwear collection is made by one of the traditional scottish cashmere manufacturers located in the Scottish Borders region and the leather goods is made by artisans in a family firm located outside Milan that has been doing this for four generations.

I need to say that I was really impressed about the quality of their products. Their knitted ties are amazing and my new Berg&Berg braided belt is my favourite accesory right now.

HOW TO TRIM YOUR BEARD

image

GROWING IT

Push Through The Crockett Phase: Obviously, the first step in growing any beard is to stop shaving. This can present an awkward few weeks (or months depending on your “sprouting level”) where co-workers and friends aren’t sure if you’re lazy, hung over or vying for a spot on Miami Vice III. Keep doubters on their toes by avoiding extreme cases of “neck beard” (hair between lines b. and c. on illustration). Remove these hairs with a quality trimmer or fresh blade.

Get Soft: The main reason men prematurely pull the plug on beard growth is averseness to itching. There’s a degree of this that’ll always be there, but softening immature whiskers with a beard wash and conditioner can help a beard mature easier throughout its lifespan.

MAINTAINING IT

Pamper Those Whiskers: Just like the hair on a man’s head, facial hair needs to be cared for to ensure it doesn’t get wiry, dry and offensive looking (unless that’s the goal). Having handsome facial hair can be accomplished by regularly washing and conditioning with targeted beard products and working out kinks and curls via regular facial exfoliation and a beard comb.

Outline A Perimeter
: Unless going for the 100% bohemian look, setting beard boundaries on your cheeks and neck is essential from the start. Make lines too tight and you look like a tight-wad or gang member, let them sprout too long and you’re in Haight-Ashbury territory. For the neck area, we recommend an inch or so below the actual jaw line (line b. on illustration) and for the cheeks, follow “smile lines” (line d. on illustration) up toward sideburns.

Hold The Line: Knowing where the beard ends is only half the battle. From there, one needs to effectively carve things out. Always use amirror to ensure balance and symmetry.

  1. - On The Neck: Using a professional grade hair trimmer on the “0” setting or a fresh blade and some shave oil (its see through nature helps keep things straight), start at the center of the neck/chin and toward the ear, following the natural curve of the jaw line. Then, do the same on the flip side to maintain symmetry. If using a trimmer, apply light pressure downward or in the direction of hair growth. For a blade, gently “dig in” and create your line, then shave gently in the direction of hair growth below that point. Apply a gentle post shave solution/balm to shaved areas when complete.

  2. - On The Cheeks: Using a professional grade hair trimmer on the “0” setting or a fresh blade and some shave oil (it’s see through nature helps keep things straight), work down or up the natural smile line (line d. on illustration). Apply a gentle post shave solution/balm to shaved areas when complete.

Regular Upkeep: Regulating the density and general bushiness of a beard can be easily accomplished with a professional trimmer and guard system. Start with a larger guard (bigger #) and trim up the stragglers, moving down a size or so as you desire. Don’t push too hard and pesky or longer strands can always be terminated with a targeted facial scissor.

Most people love you for who you pretend to be. To keep their love, you keep pretending and performing. You get to love your pretense. It's true, we're locked in an image, an act. And, the sad thing is, people get so used to their image that they grow attached to their masks. They love their chains. They forget all about who they really are. And, if you try to remind them, they hate you for it. They feel like you're trying to steal their most precious possession.
